Oh, I see. I’m weeping with joy.

Studio Liverpool* recently confirmed in Develop Magazine that an ‘offical’ Wipeout title is coming in 2008 (big surprise), but in the meantime we’ll have another version – possibly based in part on the coming PSP title Wipeout Pulse – as a download via the PlayStation Network.

…Buckley wasn’t too forthcoming, but confirmed the Liverpool based team wants to quickly release an iteration in the form of Wipeout HD, which should be officially announced in August or even earlier at E3. 1UP learned Wipeout HD is simply the first step, with a “major” Wipeout release penciled in for sometime in 2008. Wipeout HD will feature a online multiplayer mode and, while unconfirmed, likely HD-enabled tracks from Wipeout Pulse, as well.

I might have to get three to do the review for this one, as I can promise absolutely no objective, impartial judgement when it comes to Wipeout. I’m a whore for the series. Wipeout XL was the reason I bought a PS1 years ago, and Wipeout Pure was the reason I picked up a PSP as well (Pure is easily the best version in the series).

So I’m not afraid to mention that I squealed like a six-year-old girl when I read the news. I think a bat flew into the side of my house.
