Random Updates

Be sure to complete all of your internet-related business before noon today. The next GTA IV trailer drops then and I’m sure the tubes will be mighty clogged with the fevered clickings of a thousand wannabe gangstas. Myself included. I won’t lie about it. Alt links: here and here. (I guess $50 mil gets you a trailer link these days, amongst other things. Swell.)
Two new maps for Resistance (PS3) tomorrow on the PS Store, as well as global server connectivity for that game. Not sure on N.A. price yet. There’s a big Resistance Tournament starting July 7th as well.
Also, V1.82 firmware for PS3 coming down the pipe shortly, which adds support for high profile AVC/H.264 videos. Wooo.
The Black Map Pack Got Sacked. Major Nelson of Xbox Live says that it has been pulled, then waves his arms in a mysterious manner and disappears. Strange. If you happened to snag this now-orphaned download for R6: Vegas on X360, I’d … just leave it alone for now. Smells like a huge bug to me.
Speaking of 360s, the stories of dead units are really starting to pile up. If you are an owner and you know voodoo, now is the time to deploy that monkey’s paw. MS really needs to get this handled, its starting to turn into a major PR disaster for them.
Blue Dragon (X360) gets dated – August 28th in N.A., 24th in Europe.
The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass (DS) sells 350,000 copies in 2 days in Japan. Sweet Jeebus. That’s what happens when Famitsu gives a game a perfect 10. (Happy to see the far superior art style of Wind Waker returning as well.)
Finally, 2K Games has announced Civilization Revolution. This is the next game in a long string of Sid Meier’s time-eating empire-spanning sim games. The twist is that there will be versions of this for new-gen consoles and handhelds. They use the words “action-packed” in the press release. Not sure how I feel about that.
