Stop Paying Lars Ulrich

Rock Band downloadable content is off to a flying start. A really tremendous, tiger-crane / shaolin-style / cable-assisted flying start. Although they offer a shockingly high number of songs as both individual purchases and discounted bundles’o’three already, we haven’t even seen the promised full albums yet (Nirvana’s Nevermind plz.) Which brings us to my dire [...]

Resident Evil 1.5 Footage

This is quite intriguing…. some footage has surfaced of the cancelled Biohazard 2, a.k.a. Resident Evil 2. Or at least, what was supposed to be Resident Evil 2, at some point. It’s intriguing because this game actually looks better than the “official” RE2, at least from what I can recall.
Lots more info for the RE [...]

Notable Releases: October 21–27

This has to be one of the busiest weeks, in terms of game releases, that I’ve ever seen. No matter what platform(s) you own, there is at least one big release for each.
Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction (PS3)
Insomniac is one of the best developers around, and it looks like they’ve cranked out another [...]

40GB PS3 Coming to North America

It’s official (link > gamesindustry.biz). The Euro model announced a few weeks ago is coming to North America on Nov.2. It’ll be going for $399 USD, as expected. This would be the 40GB model that has no backwards compatibility whatsoever with PS2. It’s also missing 2 of the original 4 USB ports as well as [...]

Halogasm, Dual Shock the Third, UnStrangled Little Girls, etc.

Here’s just a whole bunch of stuff that I’m catching up on…
Amongst the still-glowing embers of confetti and flaming cat helmets resulting from the Halo 3 launch, a clutch of aftershocks emerges: the game runs at “640p”! That’s, like, 80p less! What devilry is this? Nothing, says Bungie, it is just you whiny bitches who [...]

Sony Remarks At TGS, Distilled Edition

Kaz Hirai, Head Sony ExecuBot @ Tokyo Game Show 2007:

Kaz thinks PSP is cool; will get more features such as remote power control over PS3 (turning on/off) as well as allowing individuals to spectate on games in progress remotely, i.e. you play football game on PS3, friends can watch/join in from PSPs while ignoring whatever [...]

Rumour Xtreme: $400 PS3 by Xmas

Opposable Thumbs is reporting a rumour from their infamous mole, one that is a little hard to swallow – so I’ve included a picture of the world’s largest grain of salt with this post to keep things in perspective. I don’t normally like writing about rumours like this because they are often untrue, but OT’s [...]

Notable Releases: September 10-16

As foretold in the ancient prophecies, the third week of September in the year Two Thousand Aught Eight shall bring forth “Assloads of Pixelated Entertainments, Numbering Not Less Than Seven Such Quantities”.
Now, I’ve done the math on this for our loyal readers: seven Assyrian Assloads (of the period) converts into precisely 12.5734 Metric Assloads, so [...]

MTV Interviews Dead Head Fred’s John McGinley

MTV has a nice little interview with the main voice talent in Dead Head Fred, John McGinley, whom you will recognize and say to yourself Hey It’s That Guy, as you do with actors that you don’t know that you know but you actually do, in fact, know.
I haven’t played Dead Head Fred yet, but [...]

HUD: Week of July 23-29

Some of these were mysteriously bumped from last week, so there’s a few repeats here. You’re not stroking out. It’ll all be ok.
NASCAR 08 (Xbox 360, PS3, PS2)
Only the most cynical of minds* would consider it a fine and worthwhile idea to convince the gaming public that it wants a NASCAR videogame. You too [...]
